Position Title:
Cashier, Lupazoo Store

Department:
Lupazoo Store

Reports To:
Cashier Supervisor

Summary:
Receives cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Makes change, cashes checks, and issues receipts or tickets to customers.
  • Records amounts received and prepares reports of transactions
  • Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand.
  • Gives cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.
  • Clean and straighten store.
  • Stock inventory in the store.
  • Promote Lupazoo and its mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places while merchandising store and outside weather conditions while walking between store locations on-site at Lupazoo. Employees may also be exposed to outside weather conditions if they are assigned to the satellite store. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, depending on the animals and the size/noise of the crowds.
